Q4.
Do I need to get a Learners Licence before I can start Training?
Q5.
Which of your courses should I enrol in?
Q6.
Do I need to have my own motorcycle?
A1. Not after the 1st of July
2008. Changes to legislation have been approved to restrict new
riders to a 250cc motorcycle for the first 12 months.
A2.
No Longer applicable See A1. As long as you have
held a licence for 3 years in the last 5 years you can still do
Q-RIDE and do the unrestricted class. You can not count the time of
suspension though. For example you first got your licence in January
2001 and in February 2002 you where suspended for accumulation of
points for 3 months and got your licence back in early June 2002 and
have held your licence since then till 2006, you can do the Q-RIDE
unrestricted.
A3.
R Class is the unrestricted class of motorcycle you can ride any
size motorcycle.
RE Class means you are restricted to a 250cc motorcycle until you
have held you RE for 12 Months or a Licence (car) for 3 Years
whichever comes first.
REA Class is an automatic Motorcycle (Scooter) up to 250cc.
RA Class is the automatic motorcycle (Scooter) of unrestricted size.
A4. Yes you do need
to get an RE Class Learners Licence before you can start training in
Q-RIDE for ALL classes of Motorcycle. The only exception is if you
already hold a RE Class licence. This includes REA and RA class. You
do not need a Motorcycle Licence to ride a 50cc Scooter at present
this can be done on a car licence.
A5. This depends on how
much riding you have done and how well you can handle a motorcycle.
The courses are designed around the following principles to give you
a guide.
1. Advanced course.
This course is
designed for those with a high level of skill, who ride on a regular
(weekly) basis, either in an off road situation or for those who use
their motorcycle daily but have not obtained their licence at this
stage.
2. Intermediate course.
This course is set for
those who can ride a motorcycle but do not ride on a regular basis
or have not ridden very much in the last 12 months. If you do not
believe you could hop on any bike and do a figure eight or counter
steer or any of the other maneuvers confidently then this is really
the course for you. (The most commonly taken course)
3. Hourly lessons.
These are designed for
those who have not ridden in a while or not at all. They can be used
to start your riding or just to brush up on your riding skills
before going on one of the other courses. These are done on a one -
to - one basis with one of our trainers so you will have personal
uninterrupted service specifically designed for you.
A6. No we can supply a
motorcycle, Helmet and Gloves for you. You will need to pay a small
fee for the use of a bike for either the Advanced or Intermediate
course. |
