Q-RIDE
Q - Ride is a Motorcycle Licensing system and a road safety initiative of the Department of Transport and Main Roads, with the aim of reducing the road toll for motorcyclists. Q - Ride is a competency based system providing a high quality of training for every motorcyclist. All motorcycle training done at Aegis is designed to bring every student up to an above average level of safety and understanding of motorcycling, helping to ensure many years of safe and enjoyable riding. All our trainers are dedicated motorcyclists with a desire to see improvements in road safety as well as all aspects of riding. We understand that each individual is different and requires differing amounts and methods of training, because of this all inexperienced riders are trained on a one-to-one basis with personal attention from an experienced expert in the field.
We have several different courses that are tailored to suit the individual, so please contact us to find a course for you. We also provide Q - Ride Motorcycle Licence courses on Both the North (Burpengary) and South (Eagleby) side of Brisbane for your convienience.

Q-RIDE Standards are under review
The Department of Transport and Main Roads are constantly reviewing the standards required to be a Q-Ride provider in an attempt to provide a more consistent approach by providers to training and assessment. This review process is in consultation with the providers, who provide input to changes through regular meetings with the Department. This can have some flow on affect to anyone who wishes to do a Q-Ride Motorcycle Licence course to gain their licence. Also in line with these reviews, changes to Legislation also affect the course and enrolment for individuals, Please contact us for futher information.
The Immediate effect will be:
- More time required (for the extra paperwork required)
- A higher standard of riding to meet the new competencies
- Slightly higher cost for the course (Please contact us for details)
Is Q-Ride having an Impact
So far it is possible to say that yes Q-Ride has had an impact on the road toll for Motorcyclists. Apart for one year the Crash rate for motorcyclists has been in improved particularly in the area of those trained through the Q-Ride system. There has been many people who have openly stated thier opposition to the Q-Ride system, but the figures dont lie and the safety of motorcyclists has been improved.
That is not to say more can not be done, and is being done on a constant basis (see above section). The Q-Ride providers have regular meetings with Government to discuss issues and ways to improve the Q-Rdie Bike Licence system. As well as these meetings Tramsport and Main Roads has developed a Motorcycle Safety Advisory Group to provide advise to the Government on Motorcycl Road Safety issues including the Q-Ride system. John Bougoure form Aegis Training Services is a member on Both of these committees.
