Course Dates Set for 2008 21st January 2008 4th February 2008 18th February 2008 NEW Driver Training Course is NOW APPROVED 3rd March 2008 Locations Courses are Provided Brisbane (Loganholme Head office) PH: (07) 3209 6444 or 1300 13 7277 (Light Vehicle - Heavy Vehicle - Motorcycle - TAA40104) Cairns (Provided though local Trainers) PH: 1300 796 997 (Light Vehicle - Heavy Vehicle) Toowoomba (Provided through local Trainers) PH: (07) 4635 9562 (Light Vehicle - Heavy Vehicle) Changes to the Driver Training Course On the 31st of December 2007 the Certificate IV in Driving Instruction (91000NSW) will no longer be registered as a nationally registered course. A new replacement course has been developed and is currently in the process of being registered and listed on the NTIS (National Training Information services) website ( http://www.ntis.gov.au/ ). After it has been listed on the NTIS site RTO's can then apply to have the course added to the scope of registration, this process can take some time to complete and submit to the Government for approval. The new course (Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport - Driver Instruction) TLI41207) was finalised in December 2007 (Advice given to RTO's on the 18th December 2007) and as of the end of December (31st) can still not access the competency standards to be able to complete the add to scope process. Because of this the state Governments have agreed to continue to accept statement of attainments from RTO's currently registered to deliver the 91000NSW course, for a six (6) month period to allow time for RTO's to add the new qualification to their scope. What this means to you is that anyone wishing to become a driver trainer and enrols in the course after the 31st December 2007 can only be issued a statement not a certificate, and although this statement will be recognised by the state issuing authorities (Transport Departments) it is not a formal qualification, so an upgrade to the new qualification will need to be completed within the following 12 months. Aegis Training Services recognises this and has developed an RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) process for those who complete the course to make this process as painless as possible. (and as a way of minimising costs to you). Aegis Training Services has also placed a high priority on the addition of the new qualification to scope and has already added most of the new competencies scope (all bar the two that where not completed on time) so can issue statements for most of the competencies already. What this will mean is that all new applications after the 31st of December will have to do is complete the two new competencies at a later date. This will mean a great time and financial saving to out customers in the future. |
